When was the last time you tapped into your inner Picasso or Van Gough? Do you love getting into the paint and art supplies as much as your little ones? Wonder what to do in Toronto that will help you fulfil your artistic needs? The creative art space and cafe, Paintlounge, has opened a new location is Leslieville and they have a huge pile of blank canvases ready to be filled.
What to do in Toronto: Paintlounge
Last week the Paintlounge team opened up a brand new location in the city’s east end, Leslieville. Paintlounge is an open ended artistic space for adults and kids. They first opened a shop in Markham back in 2010. Since then they have expanded to include a shop near College and Ossington and the new location on Queen Street, East in Leslieville. The founder and “chief paintlounger” Samantha Chan wanted to create a comfortable space where people could come socialize, relax and paint. Chan believes that being artistic and creative is just as important to our personal well being as exercise.
Inside Paintlounge visitors will find a bright, light room lined with art easels. Simply walk in any time the shop is open and select a canvas size that you would like to work with…they call this Freestyle Painting. Purchasing the stretched canvas includes access to unlimited art supplies, paints, brushes, books filled with inspiring ideas and access to knowledgeable, friendly staff who can help out as little or as much as you like. Freestyle Painting is a great way to spend an afternoon with your kids. Bring the kids along and watch the creativity happen.
If you prefer, Paintlounge also offers scheduled workshops at all skill levels (easy, moderate and challenging). Reserve a spot in a Family Workshop and paint a piece of art together. Painting collaboratively with your children is sure to be a memory to last a lifetime.
A unique feature of Paintlounge is the cafe. Relax with a cup of tea while painting your master piece. The cafe is a perfect addition for families. The space is fully equipped for hosting private events and children’s birthday parties. What a fun way to celebrate a 40th birthday party or baby shower with friends. The possibilities are endless.
What was the last piece of art you created?
